I have extensive research experience at Mayo Clinic, mass general, etc. I used the lizzym calculator on sdn and it said I should apply to these top schools but if I have very little chance then I don't want to waste the money.

The LizzyM is quite accurate: For example this cycle I applied with a 70 LizzyM score and got 2 interviews from schools with a 72, 3 from a 71, and 1 from a 70. I also got 4 69's, 3 68's and 1 67. I applied to 7 places above a 72 total score and got a grand total of ZERO interviews from them.

WHAAAAAT. I didn't know that! Just using my post-bac GPA bumps my LizzyM up to 71.4! I don't know that it actually matters at the end of the day; I'm sure there's not a whole lot of difference in the school lists for an LM ~70 and a LM ~71.5. The calculator did update my chances for an MD acceptance from 61% to 74%, so that was nice to see.
